Yes, yes its all true I am now able to enjoy my acrobatic dismounts with the company of my new jumping vest!
I have had some great dismounts during the year of 2008, but no longer shall I fear those dreaded pony club nurses anymore, all I have to fear now is the social battering I am going to receive when I am the only one that comes cantering up to my group looking like a pink obsessed five year old.
There I was on Christmas morning, unwrapping my presents, and as I got to the last one, I was almost struck with disappointment thinking that I wasn't going to get my jumping vest, until I unwrapped it to find myself struck with embarrassment!
As much as I was forever grateful for all my gifts, I knew that I had a long and hard year ahead, and it was going to be full of laughter and teasing.
My lovely new jumping vest was double thickness, protection guaranteed and don't forget the lovely PINK and PURPLE coloured finish!
My pony club colours are navy blue and light blue except for the odd saddle rug or a kid wearing a different coloured sweater, but no one is going to loose me, they will be like "oh wheres Katie gone to?" and then another person will be like "oh you mean that one over there in the pink and purple jumping vest?"
"yeah, that one"
The main thing is this however, I am really grateful for everything I have received, and my jumping vest will keep me free from all harm physically, but mentally I think I am screwed. for life.
other than that, my riding lesson on Monday was great! I had Minky on the bit again this time on trot, and believe it or not, but my teacher Karen had Minky doing what I thought was the beginning of some really nice half passes! so Minky gets a bunch of carrots again, and I am one extremely happy rider.

Hee hee heee...I think you have inherited your dad's sense of humor. Well, after all the other kids give you cr*p for the color of your vest, at least you can go home for some yummy chocolate fondue! Personally, I am a foll for chocolate covered pretzels.
Do you think Toothy's muttering is a seasonal thing? Maybe he just gripes about the cold?

Your Dad does not want you to remain anonymous, obviously. *G*
Actually, it sounds kind of pretty. Not exactly what the more conservative end of the horse world might wear, but surely a fashion statement.
The main thing is that you have it and that you wear it. *"mom" lecture over*
How exciting that Minky is really starting to get confirmed in the concept of on the bit. Usually, I have found that most horses start to like to move that way once they discover it. "Head up and back down" would be, I think, comparatively uncomfortable, as opposed to "head down, back up." Try it with your own back, and you'll feel what I mean. Arch your back towards your belly side and look up. Then, kind of bend over at the waist and drop your head. One tenses, the other relaxes.
Same for the horse. Good for Minky and even better for you!!
So where are the pictures of your in your new vest - I'm sure its very nice. It protects you and that is the point - pretend its a different color - perhaps that will help.
Stay safe girl.
Glad you had a good time with Miss Minky - sounds like its all coming together - good job!
Let's face it, Katie, Dads aren't all that great on the color thing - they're all sort of color blind, really. But no matter what the color is, now you can jump without fear of a battery of nurses with ouchie iodine things lurking in the bushes to leap out and paint you that attractive iodine color!
Jumping vest? Did not know there was such a thing! Glad to hear your dad is looking out for you, Katie. I hope you have many successful jumps while you're wearing it!

It was a great day and I'm so pleased you got Minky to swimin the dam
